7 Ways to be Kind and Empathetic Towards Others

You must have grown up listening to tales of kindness and how it can change the world. But, how much do you practice it in your day-to-day affairs? We do talk about the need of having kindness around but do we offer it to others too? After all, what goes around comes around too. So, I know many of you must be showering kindness upon others but still, there are some who need to learn what exactly kindness is and how it can help change the world around you.

Tips on being kind and empathetic towards others:

Many a time people associate kindness with being weak which is a wrong perception. Kindness is all about showing compassion, love, empathy, and acceptance towards others. It also means to avoid judging others ruthlessly for being who they truly are. When you are kind, the people around you value you, become better and grow an environment that resonates with love, joy, and compassion. So, how can you be kind towards others and yourself? Here are some obvious and subtle ways:

  1. Smile compassionately and warmly often when you see others. This is a very subtle but huge sign that you are a kind soul and wish well for others. Greeting others with a flat face and stiff body language averts others while a smile warm smile draws people closer to you as they seem to be attracted towards you.
  2. Be a good listener without sharing any judgments. When you listen actively and with a non-judgmental approach, people open up easily as they find you kind and compassionate.
  3. Show empathy when others tell about their strife or grief. When a fellow tells how hard it is for them to complete a task, do not simply brush their concern aside or tell them that they are overthinking. Instead, empathize by telling them you understand that it is hard for them. This way they pick a vibe of kindness from you.
  4. Walk with your friend or an isolated person. Sometimes, people do not need a listener or advisor. They simply want someone to be with them or walk beside them.
  5. Compliment at least one person every day. Be it your parents, siblings, friends, or random fellows; choose to appreciate them for who they are. This is a simple yet very powerful way of showing kindness towards others.
  6. Do random acts of kindness i.e. picking up some litter or giving away some possessions to charity or in any other way that makes your heart full and happy. This will be an act of kindness shown towards society and most importantly your own self. In the long run, we feel fulfilled by how much we added value and love to others’ lives.
  7. Adopt a self-care routine that is a strong act of kindness towards your own self. If you cannot be kind towards yourself, how can you expect to be genuinely compassionate towards others?
THE FINAL THOUGHT:

In short, kindness is a powerful tool and for very obvious reasons-so try to be kind, mindful, and compassionate towards yourself and others. This will help you grow as a person and improve the standard of your life and others as well. Eventually, your heart will be fuller and your life more rewarding.

 Good Luck!
